Ernest C. A. Candèze 1827-1898

Ernest C. A. Candèze

Dr. Candèze was born in Liège, Belgium, on 27 February 1827. He studied medicine at Liège and Paris and continued his profession at Glain, near Liège. In Liège, he was a pupil of Lacordaire, which probably influenced his career as an entomologist. His first publication in 1853 was a catalog of Coleoptera larvae. Although best known for his work with Elateridae, he described a number of scarabs. He was a founding member of  the Belgian Entomological Society.
